2015 Golf Balls Against Childhood Cancer

Chair Dennis Lane reported that we had 160 balls sponsored for the 2008 program.  One hundred sixty (160) balls were sponsored at $10 each bringing in $1,600 which was distributed as follows:  $500 to the winner, $500 to the Optimist International Childhood Cancer Campaign, and $500 to the Maryland South Delaware District Childhood Cancer Foundation. Reimbursements for program expenses accounted for the remaining$100 .

June is Optimist International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

"GOLF BALL DROP" FUND RAISER

A bucket of numbered golf balls is dropped from a bucket raised by a crane over a hole.  The ball in the hole or closest to the hole is the winner.  Ties split the prize.

ALL DONATIONS, LESS THE PRIZE AND MINIMAL PROGRAM EXPENSES, BENEFIT THE OPTIMIST CHILDHOOD CANCER CAMPAIGN

This successful Club project has raised over $6,600 from 2004-2007 for the Childhood Cancer Campaign.

The Children's House at Johns Hopkins

YOU CAN HELP ON THIS Project!  We are looking for members interested in this project.

First read this about the Children's House at John's Hopkins.  It will give you an idea what the house is all about.

We are still developing our role in this project, but here are some of the potential activities we will be involved in:

  • we may prepare and serve a meal for the families of the children who are cancer patients at the hospital.  We can make this interesting by having a theme!
  • we may have the opportunity to meet with the families and give them support - or just talk with them

If you would like to participate in the future , please contact Dennis Lane at 410-592-2574, 410-592-7067, or djlane@juno.com
